Sturgis Motorcycle Accidents on the Rise | Northern Plains Justice | Law Wire News

Added by AutomotiveUploads
Every year, hundreds of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the United States flock to the small town of Sturgis, South Dakota for the 10-day motorcycle run.

This year’s rally will take place from August 3rd-12th and over 500,000 riders are expected to attend. Last year, the event drew roughly a half-million people, with 376,000 vehicles entering the run.

However, a total of 68 accidents resulting in injury occurred, an increase of 18 crashes from 2016. Eight of those crashes resulted in fatal injuries, four of which were motorcyclists. Additionally, a total of 46 people were arrested on drug charges and 16 people were arrested for drunk driving.

According to the Sioux Falls car accident attorneys at Northern Plains Justice, “When hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists take to South Dakota roadways, the accident risk increases. Those who participate in Sturgis should do their best to practice safe riding habits. In the event of a crash caused by someone else’s negligence, it’s best to consult with an attorney who can help maximize your compensation so you can focus on recovery.”
