MTB K2 Hardtail Build Project - Stem, Bars, Brakes and 9x Shifter Part 1

So I have some 'down' time due to a broken foot (see moto vids) and I thought I would spend a bit of that time building a hardtail mountain bike. I guess it's partly a build and mostly a project and conversion of my K2 Zed 1.0 that I primarily use as an indoor trainer. I typically ride a Santa Cruz Blur FS MTB for variety, fun and a good workout when not on the motos. I was also given a Mongoose XR 75 MTB that I will use as my trainer now while I build up the K2 Zed Hardtail.

Today I'm installing a new stem, new bars, new grips, rear hydraulic brakes and the new 9-speed Sram shifter. I'm hoping to get the shifting dialed in and the front brakes with the new fork installed in part 2. If everything goes as planned. The new stem, bar and grips are all considerably lighter than the stock parts I'm taking off and look much better as well. The Shimano hydraulic brakes will be a nice addition as well considering I live in the Rockies and we have quite a bit of descents :) Once the new fork comes in and part 2 of this is finished it should be ready to hit the trail!

I've actually never wrenched on a pedal bike before (to any serious degree) so I consider this a fun challenge and learning experience. So hang tight with me and we'll see how this all turns out!

Thanks for watching!
