The driver of a box truck fell asleep at the wheel in a fatal collision in Washington state at 8:10 a.m. on Thursday morning. The collision killed one person and injured nine, including the driver of the truck.

Kenneth Hahn, 54, fell asleep at the wheel while driving a box truck on Highway Route 97 near Orondo, Washington. He had another passenger in his vehicle.

The truck crossed over the center lane, hitting a sedan driven by Carmela Cuellar Morales, 22, who was coming from the opposite direction. The sedan rolled over and drove over the embankment, killing Morales and injuring her 12-year-old passenger.

The box truck then hit a school bus filled with 43 children, injuring five of them as well as the bus driver.

All of those injured have been released from the hospital in satisfactory condition. According to the Washington State Patrol, Hahn was involved in a collision in the same area just over a year ago. Investigators are checking for any evidence of alcohol or drug involvement.
