1967 Camaro Drag Racing a 2002 WS6 Trans Am: #360fly, #Dragracing, #360fly4K, #Microsquirt

Added by AutomotiveUploads
This is my first video using a 360fly 4K camera. Today was the first drag race of the year or the Tech Inspection day at Wisconsin International Raceway. I do a walk around of my 1967 Camaro with a 5.3 LS Turbo engine with a Microsquirt controller and a TH350 automatic transmission.
I then have an in car video of me drag racing. I start out with doing a burnout to warm up the Mickey Thompson drag radials. I have a 3 speed Th350 transmission but I usually do a short burnout and only leave it in 1st gear. In this video I'm using my 2 step button (which hooks up to my Microsquirt controller super easy) and I have the setting at 2,300 rpm to only build 2 pounds of boost before I launch. So you can see me reaching for the button as I'm easing up to the line with the brakes applied and grabbing the first yellow staging bulb. I push the button and stab the gas pedal and the car starts vibrating as the exhaust is shooting flames out the rear and I ease up on the brakes to light up the second set of bulbs on the Christmas tree. At this point my engine is at 2,300 rpm and you can hear a little whine from the turbo from spooling up and it has reached the 2 pounds of boost. As I let go of the 2 step button and release full power to the motor you can hear my tires screaming and the car sliding sideways or to the right a bit. At that point I realized that either I need better tires or I need to do a longer burnout to get more heat in them. I will make that decision at a later date because this was the first race of the year and the track was just getting some heat and prep into it from the long winters we have here in Wisconsin.

In this race you can see that I'm racing my friend in his 2002 WS6 Trans Am with an LS1 that has a ProCharger supercharger on it and a 6 speed transmission. We were both having some issues with our run because he was having good launches but then a serious bog in the motor right after that. As the season goes on we will have these issues fixed. Here is a walk through video of this Trans Am if you want to see more. https://youtu.be/ow_I57pl9bM
