It takes imagination, creativity, craftsmanship and money to win at the top levels of America’s Rod and custom show circuit, and one look at this 1937 Ford Slantback shows why it is fresh from taking home Best Street Rod honors from the February 2016 Pennsylvania Motorama. No facet of this jewel was left untouched in this custom build performed by Legacy Innovations in Emigsville, Pennsylvania, whose artisans worked their magic on the steel body, stripping it to bare metal, modifying the roofline by slanting the B pillars and rerouting the drip rails to follow the accent line beneath the rear windows. Just as impressive are the hand-crafted firewall and engine-compartment sidewalls, which flow seamlessly around the Corvette LS V-8 engine. Luscious Ruby Red paint by BASF was applied inside and out, accented with nickel-plated components by Advanced Plating. The engine is topped with a custom-fabricated intake manifold and emits its spent gasses via stainless-steel tube headers exiting through the one-off custom running boards. A GM 4L80E 4-speed automatic transmission and Driveshaft Shop aluminum driveshaft deliver the engine’s considerable power to the heavy-duty rear end, with Nitto NTO5 Max Performance rubber on 18- and 20-inch Schott Mod 5 wheels keeping things on track and Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes ready to put a stop to the action. The smoothed suicide doors open to reveal yet more top-tier execution inside, where the custom-formed dash flows into the hand-wrought inner door metalwork and down into a center console housing a navigation and backup-camera screen and controls for power windows, sound, pushbutton start and Vintage Air conditioning. Completed with characteristically superb upholstery by Stitch & Stereo, this outstanding ’37 is sure to please both its new owner and show crowds alike.
